What Is a PDQ Display?

PDQ stands for “Pretty Darn Quick” (also interpreted as “Pre-Determined Quantity”) and refers to a pre-packed display tray that contains a specific count of products arranged and ready for immediate retail placement. The PDQ concept is built around speed — store associates can take the tray out of its shipping container and place it directly on a shelf, counter, or within a larger display unit with virtually no setup time.

PDQ displays are a form of retail ready packaging and are closely related to shipper displays. They are most commonly constructed from corrugated board and are designed to function as both a product holder and a branded merchandising unit. The tray format is compact, making PDQs ideal for shelf and countertop placements.

How PDQ Displays Benefit Brands and Retailers

For brands, PDQ displays ensure consistent product presentation across all retail locations. Because the display arrives pre-arranged with a set quantity of products, there is no variability in how the merchandise is presented — every store gets the same brand experience. This consistency is difficult to achieve when relying on individual store associates to build and stock displays from loose inventory.
