Construction Project Adds To What Already is One of North America’s Largest Corrugated Manufacturing Plants, and Will Create 50 Jobs When Complete

WALLKILL, NY (April 21, 2021) – President Container Group, a leading manufacturer of corrugated containers and point-of-purchase displays, today broke ground on a $40 million expansion of its manufacturing supercenter – an investment that will create 50 additional jobs upon completion. More than 100 people attended.

The 100,000-square-foot expansion will house President Container Group’s second state-of-the-art corrugator, plus additional converting equipment. This will result in a significant increase in the company’s manufacturing capacity and will enhance overall quality of service to its valued customers.

Upon completion in December 2021, the expanded supercenter will be 622,000 square feet, making it one of the largest corrugated manufacturing plants in North America.

President Container Group has been designated as an essential manufacturer by the federal Department of Homeland Security and the State of New York. Its manufacturing supercenter at 290 Ballard Road has been operating at full speed, 24 hours a day, before and during the entirety of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This project is being undertaken due to the increase in demand for its products, as well as President Container’s commitment to the future growth of the company.

“We are extremely proud to break ground on President Container’s 100,000-square-foot expansion at our state-of-the-art super plant in Wallkill,” said Larry Grossbard, Co-President of President Container Group. “Our theme is “Manufacturing For The Next Generation” and we are proud to be part of this community. We are extremely grateful for all of our essential partners. Our deep thanks to those great teams for being accessible and helpful. We appreciate everyone’s support and expertise every day. It’s great to run a business in this community when you have this level of support.”

Numerous public officials lauded President Container Group’s investment and commitment to the region.

Eric Gertler, Empire State Development Acting Commissioner and President & CEO-designate, said, “The expansion of President Container Group’s manufacturing facility in Orange County represents a $40 million investment in the region and will ensure that job retention and creation in the region are maintained in the manufacturing sector, which is an integral part of the region’s economic strategy.”

U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer noted President Container Group’s vital contributions while praising the company’s expansion.

“We should all be very proud that one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of the packaging we see and use every day is operating and expanding in Orange County,” he said. “Their work is so important to ensuring that people everywhere have access to the goods needed during the pandemic that President Container Group has been identified as an essential manufacturer by the federal Department of Homeland Security. Its high-tech expansion is great news for our state.”

The event was attended by numerous elected officials who praised President Container Group’s vision, investment and dedication to the region and economic growth.

Frank DenDanto III, Supervisor of the Town of Wallkill, said, “President Container brings good jobs and important tax revenue to our community, and we are very proud this industry leader is expanding in our town.”

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus said, “This expansion is a testament to the commitment that President Container has made to Orange County over the years. I’m excited to continue to work with their talented team and I know that President Container will continue to thrive here. This is great day for Orange County, and I appreciate this important investment in our community.”

Steve Brescia, Chairman of the Orange County Legislature, said the expansion “marks an exciting new chapter for President Container, which has been an important employer and leader in our community for over a decade. I’m proud that Orange County has been able to provide the skilled workforce and favorable business environment critical to its success.”

“Success breeds success, and as President Container deepens its roots in our community, we all will benefit,” said State Sen. Mike Martucci of the 42nd District. “The company is to be commended on its commitment to excellence in its industry, its leadership in technology and sustainability, and its pivotal role as a business partner.”

“I want to congratulate President Container Group on its tremendous investment,” said State Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, who represents the 100th District. “This expansion will mean dozens of new jobs for our area and shows that Wallkill is open for business. President Container’s usage of sustainable materials in its manufacturing process will ensure that it continues to thrive.”

Mike Oates, President of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp., said, “President Container’s continued investment in its Orange County operation represents business innovation, job growth and the shared experiences of so many companies that have been attracted to, or expanded in, the Hudson Valley. Together with partners like PCG, we are creating a brighter economic future for our county and those who live, work and play here.”

Maureen Halahan, President and CEO of the Orange County Partnership, was one of several key partners in helping the project become reality. “Having participated in the initial discussions about this expansion with the President Container team, I am especially proud to see this project move forward,” she said. “When construction is completed at the end of this year, we’ll have another shining example of the collaborative, visionary work being done in Orange County.”
